Algae seem promising as a future source of biofuel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"EN-GB;\">But when will this potential second generation biofuel take to the stage? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\">\u00a0<span style=\"EN-GB;\">Algae production sites (low input plants producing 12,5 times the amount of biofuel per acre compared to corn) are developing at a fenominal pace. Algae ingests carbon dioxide and releases oxygen in the photosynthesis process. Algae is full of oils that can be used to produce biodiesel, starches that can be transformed into ethanol and protein that could have a market niche in cattle and fish feed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"0cm 0cm 0pt;\"><span style=\"EN-GB;\">It sounds easy, but before this biofuel can be produced on a mass scale, there are a few problems, including figuring out how to provide enough light and carbon dioxide in the water, where algae grows, to allow for maximum growth.
