US feed & meat exports

The US dollar lows have increased export competitivity.

At a time when ethanol production is growing rapidly and subsquently fueling domestic corn demand the US has exported 63Million tons of corn. Pork exports have risen dramatically supplying any gaps in Chinese demand left after the chinese lost animals due to disease. Total US agricultural exports are expected to reach US€108 billion which equates to a US$27billion increase from 2007. Other target markets are Mexico, Canada and Europe.

It seems the agricultural powerhouses will be in competition to supply the Chinese market for feed grains as the Brazilian feed association has recently developed their relationship with China. With the low US$ Americans are focussing on exports where they can win volumes from the historically cheaper locations such as Brazil.
